Description

This Black Forest Cheesecake is a decadent dessert layered with rich chocolate cheesecake, luscious cherry topping, and silky chocolate ganache. Inspired by the classic Black Forest cake, it’s the perfect indulgence for holidays, special occasions, or when you’re craving something extraordinary.

Ingredients

For the Crust:

  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate cookie crumbs (like Oreos)

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)

For the Cheesecake Filling:

  • 24 oz cream cheese (softened)

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 3 large eggs (room temperature)

  • 1 cup sour cream (room temperature)

  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (melted)

For the Cherry Topping:

  • 1 (21 oz) can cherry pie filling

  • 1 cup fresh cherries (optional, for texture)

For the Chocolate Ganache:

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C). Grease a 9-inch springform pan.

  • Make the Crust: Combine cookie crumbs, sugar, and melted butter. Press into the bottom of the pan. Bake for 10 minutes, then cool.

  • Prepare the Filling: Beat softened cream cheese until smooth. Add sugar and beat until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well. Stir in sour cream, flour, and vanilla. Gently fold in the melted chocolate until fully combined.

  • Bake: Pour filling over crust. Tap the pan to remove air bubbles. Bake for 55–65 minutes until center is set. Turn off the oven, crack the door, and let cool inside for 1 hour.

  • Chill: Remove and refrigerate the cheesecake for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

  • Add Cherry Topping: Spread cherry pie filling evenly over the chilled cheesecake. Add fresh cherries if using.

  • Prepare Ganache: Heat heavy cream until just simmering, pour over chocolate chips, and stir until smooth. Cool slightly, then drizzle over cherry topping.

  • Serve: Let the ganache set before slicing. Garnish with whipped cream and extra cherries if desired.

Notes

  • Use high-quality chocolate for best results.

  • For a firmer ganache, chill the cheesecake after topping.

  • Make ahead and store in the fridge for up to 5 days.
