Description

These butter jam cookies are the perfect balance of buttery richness and fruity sweetness. With their soft, melt-in-your-mouth texture and a center filled with your favorite jam, they’re an easy, elegant treat for tea time or holiday baking.

Ingredients

  • Unsalted butter – 1 cup (225g / 7.9oz), softened

  • Powdered sugar – 1/2 cup (100g / 3.5oz)

  • Egg – 1 large, room temperature

  • Pure vanilla extract – 1 tsp

  • All-purpose flour – 1 3/4 cups (220g / 7.8oz), sifted

  • Salt – 1/4 tsp

  • Milk or heavy cream – 1/4 cup (60ml)

  • Jam – 1/2 cup (your favorite flavor: strawberry, raspberry, apricot, etc.)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.

  • Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.

  • Gradually mix in the sifted flour and salt, then add milk or cream to form a soft, pliable dough.

  • Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on the prepared baking sheet.

  • Use your thumb or the back of a spoon to create an indentation in the center of each cookie.

  • Fill each indentation with about 1/2 teaspoon of your chosen jam.

  • Bake for 12–15 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.

  • Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • You can use any jam flavor, or mix a few for a colorful batch.

  • Cookies can be dusted with powdered sugar after baking for an extra touch.

  • Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
