Description

This Cheddar-Topped Shepherd’s Pie with Crispy Bacon is the ultimate comfort food — layers of savory ground beef, peas, and creamy mashed potatoes, finished with a generous topping of melty cheddar and smoky bacon. A hearty, satisfying dish perfect for weeknights or cozy gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

2 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
• 2 tablespoons butter
• 1/2 cup milk
• 1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
• 1 lb ground beef
• 1 onion, chopped
• 1/2 cup frozen peas
• 1/4 cup beef broth
• 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
• 4 slices of bacon, cooked crispy and crumbled
• Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  • Make Mashed Potatoes:
Boil potatoes in salted water until tender (about 15 minutes).
Drain and mash with butter and milk until smooth. Season with salt and pepper.

  • Cook Beef Mixture:
In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and chopped onion until browned.
Stir in peas, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.

  • Assemble:
    Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Spoon the beef mixture evenly into small oven-safe bowls or a baking dish.
Spread mashed potatoes over the top and smooth with a spatula.

  • Bake:
Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top of the mashed potatoes.
Bake for 20 minutes, or until cheese is golden and bubbly.

  • Finish and Serve:
Garnish with crispy crumbled bacon on top. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

Substitute ground turkey or lamb for a twist.
• Add garlic or herbs to mashed potatoes for extra flavor.
