Keywords: crispy buttermilk chicken tenders, homemade chicken tenders, fried chicken strips, easy chicken tenders recipe.

Ingredients

For the Chicken Tenders:

  • 1 1/2 lbs chicken tenders (or boneless, skinless chicken breasts cut into strips)

  • 1 cup buttermilk

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 1/2 tsp paprika

  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Breading:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 cup cornstarch

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

For Frying:

  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Marinate the Chicken:
In a bowl, mix buttermilk with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
Add chicken tenders, coat well, cover, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight.

  • Prepare the Breading:
Combine flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and salt and pepper in a separate bowl.

  • Heat the Oil:
Heat about 2 inches of oil in a skillet or pan to 350°F (175°C).

  • Coat the Chicken:
Remove chicken from the marinade, shake off excess, and dredge in the flour mixture, pressing to coat.

  • Fry the Tenders:
Fry in batches for 3–4 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towels.

  • Serve and Enjoy:
Garnish with chopped parsley and serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces.

Notes

  • For extra crispy tenders, double-dip the chicken by returning it to the marinade and breading again.

  • Can be oven-baked or air-fried for a lighter option.
