1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (mixed into a slurry)
For the Chocolate Frosting:

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

3 1/2 cups powdered sugar

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 cup heavy cream

2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
Make the Chocolate Cake:

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 9-inch round cake pans.

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

Add buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.
