1 3/4 cups (220 g) all-purpose flour

2 cups (400 g) granulated sugar

3/4 cup (75 g) cocoa powder

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

2 large eggs

1 cup (240 ml) milk

1/2 cup (120 ml) vegetable oil

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Beat on medium speed until well combined.

Stir in the boiling water carefully (the batter will be thin).

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.

Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely before frosting.
