Description

This Creamy and Savory French Onion Beef and Noodles recipe features tender beef, caramelized onions, and rich, velvety sauce tossed with egg noodles. It’s the ultimate comfort food for an easy, satisfying family dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef stew meat, cubed

  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 cups beef broth

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

  • 2 tablespoons flour

  • 8 oz egg noodles

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 1 tablespoon butter

  • 1/2 cup shredded Gruyère cheese (optional, for garnish)

  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add beef stew meat and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove beef and set aside.

  • In the same skillet, add butter and sliced onion. Cook over medium heat for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until soft and caramelized.

  • Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.

  • Sprinkle flour over onions and garlic, stirring well to combine.

  • Gradually pour in beef broth while stirring to prevent lumps. Add soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer.

  • Return beef to the skillet. Simmer for 10-15 minutes until beef is tender and sauce thickens.

  • Meanwhile, cook egg noodles according to package directions. Drain and set aside.

  • Stir heavy cream into the beef mixture. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  • Add cooked egg noodles and toss to combine.

  • If using, top with shredded Gruyère and let it melt. Garnish with parsley and serve.

Notes

  • For extra richness, deglaze the pan with a splash of dry white wine before adding broth.

  • Substitute Swiss cheese if Gruyère is unavailable.

  • Great with crusty bread to soak up the sauce.
