Description

This creamy shrimp and chorizo spaghetti is a flavorful fusion of land and sea, combining tender shrimp, spicy chorizo, and a rich tomato-cream sauce. Quick, easy, and perfect for a satisfying dinner.

Ingredients

  • 250 g (9 oz) spaghetti

  • 200 g (7 oz) peeled shrimp

  • 100 g (3.5 oz) chorizo (spicy or mild, to taste)

  • 1 small can (about 200 g / 7 oz) crushed tomatoes

  • 1 shallot or small onion, finely chopped

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 200 ml (about 3/4 cup) heavy cream or crème fraîche

  • Olive oil

  • Salt, pepper

  • Paprika (optional)

  • Herbes de Provence or dried basil

  • Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  • Cook the spaghetti in a large pot of salted water according to package instructions. Drain, reserving one ladle of pasta water.

  • Prepare the chorizo by slicing it into rounds. Sauté in a dry pan for 3–4 minutes until golden. Remove and set aside.

  • Sauté the shrimp in the same pan with a drizzle of olive oil, along with the shallot and garlic. Cook shrimp 2–3 minutes per side. Season lightly.

  • Add the tomatoes and let simmer for 2–3 minutes. Stir in the cream and return the chorizo to the pan. Season with paprika, herbs, salt, and pepper. Simmer gently for 5 minutes.

  • Combine with the pasta, mixing thoroughly. Add a bit of reserved pasta water to loosen the sauce if needed.

  • Serve hot, topped with black pepper and Parmesan

Notes

  • Adjust spice level with your choice of chorizo and paprika.

  • Add fresh basil or parsley for a fresh twist.

  • Pairs well with a crisp white wine.
