For the cupcakes:
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
For the frosting:
- 1 cup dark chocolate, melted
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin.
- Mix flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt.
- Beat butter and sugar until creamy. Add eggs and vanilla.
- Alternate adding dry ingredients and buttermilk.
- Divide into cupcake liners and bake for 18–20 minutes. Cool before frosting.
- Make the frosting: Beat melted chocolate, butter, powdered sugar, and cream until smooth.
- Pipe onto cupcakes and garnish with chocolate shavings.
