Perfect for snacks, parties, or game day. Made with mozzarella, crunchy panko, and savory seasoning. Keywords: easy cheese sticks, homemade mozzarella sticks, crispy cheese sticks recipe

Ingredients

  • 12 mozzarella cheese sticks (or block of mozzarella cut into 3-4 inch sticks)

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 2 large eggs

  • 3 tablespoons milk

  • 1 1/2 cups panko breadcrumbs (preferred for extra crunch)

  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • Vegetable oil (for frying; use high-heat oil like vegetable or canola)

Dipping Sauce (Optional):

  • Warm marinara sauce or ranch dressing

Instructions

  • Place flour in a shallow bowl. In a second bowl, whisk eggs with milk. In a third bowl, mix breadcrumbs with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

  • Dredge each cheese stick in flour, then dip in egg mixture, and finally coat thoroughly with the seasoned breadcrumbs. For an extra crunchy texture, repeat the egg and breadcrumb coating once more.

  • Place breaded sticks on a tray and freeze for at least 30 minutes to prevent cheese from oozing during frying.

  • Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C).

  • Fry cheese sticks in batches for about 2–3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

  • Remove and drain on paper towels. Serve immediately with marinara or ranch dressing.

Notes

  • Freezing before frying is essential for optimal results.

  • Double coating ensures a crispy crust that holds the cheese in.

  • These can be made ahead and stored in the freezer until ready to fry.
