Ingredients
-
1 white cake mix
-
8 oz can crushed pineapple (with juice)
-
1 cup granulated sugar
-
1/2 tsp vanilla extract (for pineapple mixture)
-
8 oz package cream cheese, softened
-
1/2 cup butter, softened
-
3 cups powdered sugar
Instructions
-
Prepare the Pineapple Mixture: In a bowl, combine crushed pineapple (with juice), granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Set aside.
-
Bake the Cake: Prepare white cake mix according to package instructions. Pour batter into a greased 9×13-inch pan. Bake as directed on the package.
-
Add Pineapple Layer: When cake is done, remove from oven and immediately poke holes all over the surface with a fork or skewer. Pour the pineapple mixture evenly over the warm cake, allowing it to soak in. Let cool completely.
-
Make the Frosting: Beat cream cheese and butter together until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, beating until smooth and fluffy.
-
Frost the Cake: Spread the cream cheese frosting evenly over the cooled cake.
-
Serve: Chill if desired, then slice and serve.
Notes
-
For extra moisture, use the juice from the pineapple in the soaking step.
-
Chill the cake for at least an hour for easier slicing and better flavor.
