Description

This Greek Chicken Gyro Bowl with Honey Whipped Feta recipe combines flavorful marinated chicken with a creamy feta topping, served over grains and fresh veggies for a delicious and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Gyro Chicken:

  • 500 g (1 lb) boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Honey Whipped Feta:

  • 120 g (4 oz) feta cheese, crumbled
  • 3/4 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp honey (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small garlic clove, grated
  • Black pepper, to taste

Bowls:

  • Cooked rice, quinoa, or roasted potatoes
  • Cherry tomatoes, halved
  • Sliced cucumber
  • Sliced red onion
  • Fresh parsley or dill

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken: In a bowl, whisk olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, oregano, paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper. Add chicken and marinate for at least 30 minutes (up to overnight).
  2. Cook the chicken: Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook chicken for 5–6 minutes per side until golden, slightly charred, and cooked through. Rest for 5 minutes, then slice thinly.
  3. Make honey whipped feta: Blend feta, Greek yogurt, honey, olive oil, garlic, and black pepper until smooth and creamy. Adjust honey to taste.
  4. Assemble bowls: Layer rice, quinoa, or potatoes in bowls. Top with sliced chicken, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, onion, and generous dollops of honey whipped feta.
  5. Serve: Garnish with fresh herbs and cracked black pepper. Drizzle extra honey if desired for sweetness contrast.
