Description

Warm, cheesy, and loaded with savory goodness, these Ham and Cheese Butter Swim Biscuits are a quick and comforting bake. Soaked in garlic-herb butter and packed with ham and cheddar, they’re perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a cozy side dish.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 2 tbsp baking powder

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • 1 cup diced ham

  • 1 cup buttermilk

  • 1/2 cup butter (melted, for “swim”)

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)

  • 1/2 tsp dried parsley (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.

  • In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.

  • Stir in shredded cheese and diced ham. Add buttermilk and mix just until combined.

  • Spread the dough evenly into the prepared pan.

  • Combine melted butter with garlic powder and parsley if using, and pour evenly over the top.

  • Bake for 25–30 minutes or until golden brown.

  • Let cool slightly before slicing and serving warm.

Notes

  • Use pre-cooked ham for best texture and flavor.

  • Easily adaptable—try swapping cheddar for Swiss or pepper jack.

  • Great for meal prep and reheats well.
