Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Halloumi Fries:

  • 400g halloumi cheese, cut into thick fry-shaped sticks
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For the Maple Glaze:

  • 3 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes (optional)
  • Pinch of sea salt

For the Lemon-Tahini Dip:

  • 1/3 cup tahini
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 small garlic clove, finely grated
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 24 tablespoons warm water (to thin)
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prep the Halloumi: Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Pat halloumi sticks dry and coat with cornstarch, smoked paprika, and black pepper.
  2. Bake Until Crispy: Arrange fries on the baking sheet, drizzle with olive oil, and bake for 18–22 minutes until crispy.
  3. Make the Maple Glaze: Whisk together maple syrup, lemon juice, olive oil, chili flakes, and salt. Brush over hot halloumi fries.
  4. Prepare the Lemon-Tahini Dip: Whisk tahini, lemon juice, garlic, olive oil, and salt. Gradually add warm water until creamy.
  5. Serve: Transfer fries to a platter, garnish, and serve with Lemon-Tahini Dip.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, sprinkle some sesame seeds over the glazed halloumi fries.
  • You can adjust the sweetness of the glaze by adding more or less maple syrup according to your preference.
