For the Halloumi Fries:
- 400g halloumi cheese, cut into thick fry-shaped sticks
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
For the Maple Glaze:
- 3 tablespoons pure maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes (optional)
- Pinch of sea salt
For the Lemon-Tahini Dip:
- 1/3 cup tahini
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 small garlic clove, finely grated
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2–4 tablespoons warm water (to thin)
- Salt, to taste
Instructions
- Prep the Halloumi: Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Pat halloumi sticks dry and coat with cornstarch, smoked paprika, and black pepper.
- Bake Until Crispy: Arrange fries on the baking sheet, drizzle with olive oil, and bake for 18–22 minutes until crispy.
- Make the Maple Glaze: Whisk together maple syrup, lemon juice, olive oil, chili flakes, and salt. Brush over hot halloumi fries.
- Prepare the Lemon-Tahini Dip: Whisk tahini, lemon juice, garlic, olive oil, and salt. Gradually add warm water until creamy.
- Serve: Transfer fries to a platter, garnish, and serve with Lemon-Tahini Dip.
Notes
- For extra flavor, sprinkle some sesame seeds over the glazed halloumi fries.
- You can adjust the sweetness of the glaze by adding more or less maple syrup according to your preference.
