-
3/4 cup (150 g) granulated sugar
-
2 large eggs
-
1 tbsp orange zest
-
1/2 cup (120 ml) fresh orange juice
-
1 tsp vanilla extract
-
1/3 cup (80 ml) whole milk or plain yogurt
Optional Orange Glaze:
-
1 cup (120 g) powdered sugar
-
2-3 tbsp fresh orange juice
Topping:
-
Fresh orange slices
-
Powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a loaf pan with parchment paper.
-
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
-
In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each.
-
Mix in orange zest, juice, vanilla extract, and milk (or yogurt) until smooth.
-
Gently fold in the dry ingredients just until combined. Do not overmix.
-
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
-
Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
-
(Optional) Mix glaze ingredients and drizzle over the cooled cake.
-
Garnish with orange slices and a dusting of powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
-
Use freshly squeezed orange juice for the best flavor.
-
Substitute milk with yogurt for extra tang and moisture.
-
Let the cake cool completely before glazing to avoid melting the icing.
