Scale
- 12 mozzarella sticks or block mozzarella cut into sticks
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko or seasoned)
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for frying
- Marinara sauce (for serving)
Instructions
- Cut mozzarella into sticks and freeze for 30–60 minutes.
- Prepare three bowls: flour in one, beaten eggs in another, and breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper in the third.
- Dredge each frozen cheese stick in flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs. Repeat egg and breadcrumb steps for a double coating.
- Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry cheese sticks in small batches for 1–2 minutes or until golden brown.
- Drain on paper towels and serve immediately with marinara sauce.
Notes
- Always freeze cheese before frying to avoid leaks.
- Double coat for extra crispiness.
- Panko breadcrumbs give a crunchier texture than regular ones.
- Do not overcrowd the frying pan to maintain oil temperature.
- Bake or air fry for a lighter alternative.
