- 1 lb ground beef (or Italian sausage)
- 1 small onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (24 oz) jar marinara sauce
- 1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 8 lasagna noodles, broken into pieces
- 2 cups water or broth
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil for garnish
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add diced onion and garlic, cooking until softened. Stir in marinara sauce, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper.
- Break lasagna noodles into large pieces and stir into the sauce. Add water or broth and bring to a simmer.
- Cover and cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the noodles are tender.
- Dollop ricotta cheese over the lasagna, then sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan on top. Cover and let the cheese melt for 5 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh basil and serve hot.

- Use ground turkey for a lighter option.
- Swap ricotta for cottage cheese if preferred.
- Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheat on the stovetop.
