For the Beef Steaks
- 1 1/2 lb (700 g) beef sirloin or round steaks
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 1/2 cups beef broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
For the Creamy Mashed Potatoes
- 2 lb (900 g) Yukon gold potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/2–3/4 cup warm milk or cream
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, optional
Instructions
- Prepare the Mashed Potatoes Boil potatoes until tender, drain, and mash with butter and milk until smooth. Season with salt.
- Sear the Steaks Season steaks, sear in a skillet until browned. Set aside.
- Make the Onion Gravy Caramelize onions, add garlic, then broth and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer.
- Simmer the Steaks Return steaks to the skillet, cover, and cook until tender.
- Serve Plate mashed potatoes, top with steaks and gravy. Garnish with parsley.
