- 1 lb medium or large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/2 cup cornstarch or flour
- 2 egg whites
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for frying
- 3 tbsp honey or brown sugar
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1/2 tsp chili flakes (optional)
- 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water (slurry)
Instructions
- Pat shrimp dry and season with salt and pepper.
- Dip shrimp in egg whites, then coat with cornstarch or flour.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Fry shrimp in batches until golden and crispy. Set aside on a paper towel or wire rack.
- In a saucepan, combine honey or brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic, rice vinegar, and chili flakes. Simmer for 2–3 minutes.
- Add cornstarch slurry and stir until the sauce thickens.
- Toss fried shrimp in the glaze until well coated. Serve immediately, garnished with green onions or sesame seeds if desired.

- Do not overcook shrimp—they become rubbery quickly.
- Serve hot to retain crispiness.
